Anjulie has been working with us for four years now as the Sales & Marketing Manager for Muscle Mlk – one of our Silver Sponsors for Tuesday Night Races (TNR). She LOVES paddling so we thought she would be able to give great insight into her own paddling experiences and what it’s like being a TNR sponsor!
Deep Cove Kayak – Hi Anjulie, thanks for coming to chat! What are you doing today?
Anjulie Latta – I’m delivering the prizes that we – Muscle Mlk that is – are giving to TNR as part of our sponsorship! There are prize packs which each have two bottles of Muscle Mlk, a great workout towel and a lanyard.
DCK – This is your fourth year of sponsoring TNR, how did you get started and what keeps you guys coming back?
AL – I knew about TNR personally, and thought it would be a great fit for Muscle Mlk because we are always looking for opportunities to spread the word about our product. Muscle Mlk loves getting involved with local events that inspire the local community, and our field marketing team is always keen to be out and about in Deep Cove!
DCK – And for those who don’t know – what exactly is Muscle Mlk?
AL – It’s a great tasting protein drink designed either to help recovery after exercise, or as a meal replacement. I describe it as a ‘functional beverage’, it’s not meant to just quench your thirst, it does more than that and helps you refuel and repair.
DCK – And for you personally – what kind of paddling do you like to do?
AL – I love stand up paddleboarding (SUP) and kayaking. I kayak with my kids as they can go in the front of doubles, and I SUP with my partner as we can go further. We have just been in Hawai’i and stand up paddling there was just fantastic!
DCK – So apart from Hawai’i, where else do you like to paddle locally?
AL – Well Deep Cove obviously, it’s great for the kids as they can see so much from the kayaks. We have also explored some of Texada Island which was just beautiful. I learnt to SUP in Deep Cove with Mike, and now I go all over Indian Arm; I’m a fan of SUPing when it is flat calm so I like to go early in the morning.
DCK – What else does Muscle Mlk have going on this summer?
AL – With Muscle Mlk we are sponsoring a bunch of exciting events over the summer; the Test of Metal Bike Race in June in Squamish, the BC Bike Race in July – then also a whole lot of running races all over the lower mainland. It’s going to be a good summer! Good luck to all TNR racers on Tuesday – Muscle Mlk will be there for opening night!
DCK – And lastly, do you have anything exciting planned?
AL – I like to set myself the challenge of hiking a new mountain each summer, so this year I have Black Tusk or Golden Ears in sight. I will also head to the Okanagan for some lake SUPing which is always great.
DCK – Thanks Anjulie – hope you have a great summer!
