WOW Workshop – Intro To Touring
If you have ever dreamed of exploring our beautiful coastlines in a kayak and camping on remote beaches but are uncertain where to begin, this is the course for you!
Join us for a comprehensive and experiential introduction to kayak touring basics during this two night overnight course. The course also includes a preparation meeting several weeks prior to the trip.
Our course will focus on introducing the following foundational aspects of sea kayak touring:
- Safety (prevention & preparation, safety equipment, decision making, emergency response & communication)
- Trip preparation (logistics, equipment, meal planning, packing)
- Navigation (reading a chart, route selection, compass work)
- Natural elements (weather, tides and currents)
Clinic Details:
- Trip Preparation Meeting: July 2 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm
- Overnight Dates: July 17th – 19th
- Location: Howe Sound (weather dependent)
- Cost: $495.00 (excl tax)
Prerequisites
Participants should have a strong foundation of basic kayak strokes and have participated in assisted rescue training prior to registering.
