Position Overview:
The Guest Services and Retail Specialist role is a dynamic and versatile role with Deep Cove Kayak. The position comprises three major components: The Call Taker, Ice Cream Server, and Retail Associate. This employee will play a key part in delivering exceptional customer service by handling reservations, serving ice cream, and assisting customers in our retail space. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Call Taker Duties:
- Respond promptly and professionally to incoming calls and emails regarding rentals, tours, and general inquiries.
- Assist customers with booking rentals and tours using our reservation system.
- Provide accurate information about services, rates, and policies.
- Handle changes or cancellations to bookings and ensure proper follow-up with customers.
- Direct customers to appropriate departments / services we provide.
Ice Cream Server Duties:
- Serve customers efficiently and courteously at the ice cream counter.
- Operate the point-of-sale system for ice cream transactions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the serving area, including restocking supplies as needed.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.
Retail Associate Duties:
- Greet and assist customers in the retail store, providing product recommendations and answering inquiries.
- Operate the point-of-sale system for retail purchases.
- Ensure retail displays are clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Assist with inventory counts and restocking items.
- Promote the sale of merchandise, such as apparel, paddling gear, and souvenirs.
Qualifications:
- Previous customer service experience is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable using computers and reservation/point-of-sale systems (training will be provided).
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Food Safe Level 1 certification (or willingness to obtain) is mandatory for ice cream duties.
Working Conditions:
- This is a seasonal position with varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Employees may work outdoors or indoors, depending on the specific duties of the day.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
