Cates Park Paddling Centre (CPPC), a sister location to Deep Cove Kayak, in partnership with the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation. Just 4 km from Deep Cove Kayak, CPPC offers a unique paddling adventure in a stunning location.

Position Overview:
As a Rentals Staff member at CPPC, you will play an essential role in preparing customers for a safe and enjoyable paddling experience. This physical and hands-on role requires a high level of customer service, teamwork, and a love for working outdoors. We are looking for friendly, energetic, and hard-working individuals to join our team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Beach Set-Up & Boat Movement: Handle opening and closing procedures, including the set-up of equipment and moving boats.
  • Boat & Equipment Care: Ensure that boats and equipment are kept clean, well-maintained, and stored properly.
  • Safe Work Environment: Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Meet with fellow beach staff and the supervisor at the start of each shift to coordinate efforts.
  • Staff Communication: Maintain regular communication with supervisors, checking in on an hourly basis to report any concerns or needs.
  • Scheduling Support: Anticipate busy times and coordinate with the Manager to ensure sufficient staffing and boat availability.
  • Customer Assistance: Provide friendly and knowledgeable service, answering customer questions and assisting with equipment.
  • Ongoing Training: Participate in continuous staff training to develop skills and knowledge of paddling, boats, and equipment.
  • Equipment Monitoring: Identify and report any equipment damage, ensuring that repairs are made promptly.

Requirements:

  • Communication Skills: Confident in speaking and engaging with customers and team members.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Physical Strength: Capable of lifting over 100 lbs and carrying up to 50 lbs in each hand multiple times per day, extended period of physical activity
  • Paddling Knowledge: Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Level 1 certification (training provided if needed prior to first shift).
  • Customer Service Experience: Previous experience in customer service, especially in the outdoor, tourism, or recreation industries.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent time management.
  • Outdoor Passion: A genuine interest in paddlesports and the outdoor industry.
  • Availability: Must be available to work on stat holidays and weekends.
  • Physical Endurance: Comfortable working outdoors for 7+ hours a day, in all seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall).
