Position Overview:

The Beach Operations Team Lead plays a pivotal leadership role in ensuring guests at Deep Cove Kayak are equipped and prepared for their paddling adventures. This position involves overseeing the beach operations team, ensuring the smooth flow of gear distribution, customer assistance, and watercraft fittings. The ideal candidate will lead by example, fostering teamwork, maintaining high safety standards, and ensuring excellent customer experiences.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Lead and support the beach operations team in day-to-day operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and professionally.
  • Conduct daily briefings to communicate priorities, safety guidelines, and operational updates.
  • Train and mentor team members, providing hands-on guidance and feedback to develop skills and ensure consistent performance.
  • Act as the first point of contact for escalated guest concerns or operational challenges.
  • Monitor team performance and report feedback and suggestions for improvement to the Rentals Manager.

Beach Operations:

  • Oversee and assist with the fitting of customers into kayaks and paddleboards, ensuring proper technique and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Coordinate gear distribution, including life jackets, paddles, and additional equipment.
  • Ensure the beach area is organized, clean, and well-stocked with equipment.

Safety and Customer Service:

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure customers are briefed on proper equipment use and paddling practices.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by addressing questions, offering assistance, and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Respond promptly to customer concerns or issues, escalating where necessary.

Administrative Duties:

  • Support the Rentals Manager and Supervisors with inventory tracking and reporting for beach equipment.
  • Handle minor repairs or report damaged equipment to the repairs team.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a team leadership or supervisory role, preferably in outdoor recreation or customer service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of paddling equipment and basic water safety protocols is required.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to assist with equipment and work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Paddle Canada Level 1 Certificate

Working Conditions:

  • This is a seasonal position requiring flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
  • Work is primarily outdoors and involves exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina is required for lifting and carrying equipment (up to 115lbs).
  • Employees will be required to wear a company-provided uniform.
